A bit about HR on Request

Experienced. Practical.
Always On Your Side.

I am Lee Goreham, Founder of HR on Request and a Chartered Member of the CIPD, Level 7 qualified, a Mental Health First Aider and an ACAS-trained workplace mediator.

With over 20 years of senior HR experience, I have worked at every level of the profession, from HR Administrator to HR Director. I also bring a commercial background as a former line manager and business manager, which means I understand the realities of running a business, not just the theory of HR.

I set up HR on Request to support SME owners who do not have access to in-house HR expertise. Too often, people’s issues are left too long or handled without the right guidance. My role is to provide practical, commercially grounded advice that helps business owners act confidently and fairly, while remaining compliant with UK employment law.

My approach is authentic, solution-focused and direct when needed. I believe good HR is not about unnecessary processes. It is about clarity, consistency and giving leaders the confidence to manage their people properly.

I will help you look after your people so you can focus on running your business.

HR on Request gives SMEs direct access to over 20 years of senior HR experience, without the overhead of employing an in-house HR Manager or HR Director.

Clients are not passed to junior advisers or call centres. They receive hands-on, strategic and practical guidance directly from Lee Goreham MCIPD.

This means decisions are grounded in real-world experience, commercial understanding and current UK employment law, giving business owners clarity and confidence when it matters most.

SOME OF OUR REVIEWS

HR Frequently Asked Questions

Is this really confidential?

Yes, completely.
Anything you share stays between us. I’m not connected to your employer, and I won’t contact them or anyone else without your permission.

I’m not sure if my situation is serious enough – can I still contact you?

Yes.
Most people I speak to feel unsure before they get in touch. If something is playing on your mind or doesn’t feel quite right, it’s worth having a conversation.

What kind of situations can you help with?

I can support with things such as:

  • Redundancy situations
  • Difficult relationships with a manager or colleague
  • Concerns about how you’re being treated at work
  • Disciplinary or grievance processes
  • Not knowing how to respond to something your employer has said or done

If you’re unsure, just ask.

What happens in the free 20-minute conversation?

It’s an informal, confidential chat.

You can talk through what’s happening, ask questions, and get a clearer understanding of your situation. I will ask questions to help me understand the organisation that you work for. We will discuss what you would like to see happen and what a good outcome would look like for you.  By the end of the conversation, you should feel more confident about your next steps and whether you need any further support.

There’s no obligation to continue.

What happens if I need more help after that?

If further support would be helpful, I can provide:

  • A professionally drafted letter
  • A clear, practical action plan tailored to your situation

This is charged at £50.

If further meetings or telephone calls are needed, I charge £25 per half hour.

Will you attend meetings with me or speak to my employer?

In most cases, no.

Many organisations only allow a Trade Union representative or a work colleague to attend formal meetings. Because of this, my role is to support you behind the scenes, helping you prepare, understand what to expect, and approach things with confidence.

If your employer allows external parties to attend, I can attend via video conference (or in person if the geography permits). Please note that if I attend a meeting, either in person or remotely, there is a charge (unfortunately, I cannot do it for free). I charge £50 per hour and would ask that a £100 retainer be paid before the meeting.

Can you help me with what to say or how to respond?

Yes.

A big part of what I do is helping you structure conversations, responses, or written communication so you feel clear, calm, and in control of the situation.

What if I just need someone to talk things through with?

That’s absolutely fine.

Sometimes having an independent, experienced person to listen and sense-check things with is exactly what’s needed.  If you need further calls or support, I charge £25 per 30 minutes.

How quickly can I speak to you?

I aim to respond within 24 hours and will arrange a time that works for you as soon as possible.

Is this legal advice?

No.

I provide practical HR guidance based on experience. If your situation requires legal advice, I’ll let you know and point you in the right direction.
